Skilling EcoVET: Training and cooperation for a sustainable future in Senegal

In recent months, the Skilling EcoVET project, funded by the Erasmus+ Capacity Building programme, has made significant progress in strengthening vocational training in Senegal, focusing on the green transition and dialogue between schools and businesses.

From 28 July to 1 August 2025, an intensive course on renewable energy, focusing on solar photovoltaics , was held in Dakar for trainers from the Don Bosco Vocational Training Centres. During the five days of activities, participants explored theoretical and practical aspects of batteries, charge controllers, inverters and DC-coupled systems, acquiring key skills for the installation and maintenance of solar systems.

The training also promoted a South-South exchange of skills thanks to the participation of a trainer from the Don Bosco Training Institute in Accra (Ghana). At the end, the teachers received a certificate of participation attesting to the skills they had acquired.

In line with these initiatives, on 18 September 2025, an online course dedicated to Employment Services (SAL) and Senegalese trainers was successfully completed, focusing on strengthening skills and creating public-private partnerships. Participants shared the progress made and the collaborations established between companies and vocational training centres, consolidating tools and good practices for more effective cooperation between the VET world and the private sector.

The Skilling EcoVET programme has culminated with the project’s Final Conference, in Senegal (Dakar) on 25 and 26 November 2025, attended by ministerial authorities and institutional representatives. It was a crucial opportunity to discuss and showcase the results achieved, demonstrating the shared commitment to promoting green skills and youth employability in the country.
