As part of the capacity-building activities of the Skilling Eco-VET project, co-funded by the European Union, VIS NGO organised the third meeting of the public–private partnership group in Tambacounda on 30 January 2025.
The working session focused on formative assessment and database management, bringing together stakeholders from vocational training institutions.
The first part of the meeting was dedicated to formative assessment, presented as a key tool to support learners’ progress and improve the quality of training provision. Discussions highlighted the challenges faced by training institutions, particularly difficulties in analysing and using formative assessment results, as well as institutional constraints such as the limited flexibility to adapt training modules designed at national level.
A practical example of formative assessment was then presented through the document “Journal of My Experience at the Don Bosco Vocational Training Centre”, developed by the project partner Mundus and adapted to the needs of the centres. The content of the document was analysed in detail with participants, who emphasised its relevance and discussed the most appropriate frequency for its use.
The final part of the meeting focused on the importance of databases in monitoring learners and managing information. The exchanges underlined the need for reliable, regularly updated and well-protected databases in order to ensure the confidentiality of personal data and prevent any misuse.
This session contributed to strengthening participants’ capacities and fostering a shared reflection on the continuous improvement of monitoring and evaluation practices within vocational training institutions.
